It's exactly one year since we left home to pursue our goals in a completely different country called Morocco. leaving Our families, friends, and loved ones all behind just to search for a greener pasture.
Here we are grinding so hard and seeding our seeds both in the rainy and dry seasons in this vague weather climate to make sure we take some rape seeds home to our beloved country the Gambia. As they said everything worth it comes with a price tag, here this one hit so hard when we have to choose between a family and a degree, then the tassel begins; heart vs head, exciting vs stable, and happiness vs common sense there is no easy way out no easy choice and yet a choice has to be made, at times we miss home and feel like going home at the same time awaits for a fascinating degree that could change our lives for good, Only if we could be omnipresent, unfortunately we are not laws, and here we go onto choosing a degree.
We live independently and experience new things like the environment, culture, dishes, language, and more importantly our personal growth. we live and see an admirable infrastructure like buildings, roads, Railways, schools, hospitals, etc, We acknowledge different cultures through dressings, weddings, greetings, and so on, We eat foods that we never saw before and we prepare foods we never thought of preparing until now, some of us never boiled an egg before talkless of cooking a meal and yes! Today many of us are big chefs, we learned and comprehend new languages like the french language, “darija” and many other languages we learned from other nationalists all around Africa, We experience some changes in ourselves both physically and mentally.
Mentally, we unlock a new version of ourselves, and our maturity, awareness, and sense of humor get boosted drastically.
But hey! What building could be more comfortable and nicer than the one our fathers built, what culture could be better than our own, what food could be more delicious than the one prepared by our beloved mothers, and what or which language could we enjoy speaking in than the language of our mother tongue which we do zero effort to learn and finally what could be greater than growing up with your childhood friends.
Having said of all these, we all could unanimously agree that Good health is the key to all this, the only place we will like to put our heads when sick is on our mother's lap regardless of our age or size. Truly, they might have good hospitals with well-equipped and qualified doctors but apparently, there are no better doctors than our mothers who cure all kinds of sicknesses either physically, mentally, or even emotionally. And here we control our health through positive thoughts because giving up is simply not an option, and thank god we are still surviving. As much as we missed home we still want to make our families proud.
