Oh! you, young African!
What is your life's purpose?
You have figured it out I suppose.
If not, think about it-- I propose,
For it's not late to start a crusade,
When you're still young and able.
But what will be that crusade?
I mean that thing you perceive,
And have the determination to achieve,
That'll make you contribute to relieve,
The pain and suffering of not only your relatives,
But other communities, and peoples.
Think about it!
Remember, you are a strategic resource,
You can serve as a good source,
Of change and a powerful force,
That would immensely contribute to reinforce
Our longed craving for complete independence.
So, don't forget that you should be at the forefront
In the moment we need to confront
Poverty and denigration that stare us right Infront
Of our eyes, and this-- we must surmount.
It's true, everything seems messed-up
And it's easy to give -up,
But you must stand-up,
Hold your head high and speak up
For your voice needs to be heard
Think about the change that should be made
And never let your determination to fade
In trying to bring the shades
That'll eliminate the rays of plight for infinite decades
Dream big and work on yourself,
To develop the needed skills and competence for oneself;
To make the change for self and others.
Develop a desire to learn and grow,
To acquire what will make other lives glow.
So, let the work flow
And don't worry if things get slow
For great things take time before they blow.
